Students can enjoy a wide range of recreational and cultural opportunities while studying at AUS.
The hub of campus life at the American University in Switzerland are our student clubs; Sharks, Tigers and Eagles. The clubs are run by students and faculty and exemplify the energetic and creative thinking that runs throughout our university.
The clubs organize a variety of social activities both on and off-campus including barbecues, club nights, karaoke evenings, quiz nights and networking events. There are traditions such as annual marathons and cultural days as well as ample opportunities for students to attend musical, cultural and art shows.
Throughout the year, activities and competitions are organized by the houses to compete against each other and against clubs from other institutions around the region. Winning houses are then awarded points which contribute to earning end-of-year awards and prizes.
The opportunities for great Swiss skiing, snowboarding and alpine experiences are numerous with around 20 ski resorts located close by to the AUS campus. Student house groups take advantage by organizing regular ski trips and similar excursions.
Being an active member of a house offers the rewarding opportunity to meet new people and refine skills such as organization, teamwork and communication outside the classroom setting.
If you are coming from further afield in Europe or from overseas, AUS’s location provides an excellent opportunity to experience the best central Europe and Switzerland has to offer.
Throughout the year we have a large variety of industry visits organized by our professors and administrative staff. Companies like Nestlé, Hublot, the United Nations and others are open for a visit.
Students are encouraged to take every opportunity to dive into the world of business and experience the industry. The industry visits are made even more attractive as these companies are located just within a short distance from campus.

While English is the principle language, there are more than 40 nationalities – speaking on average 3.5 languages – on campus so AUS offers not only business learning opportunities but an environment where cultural skills and understanding can also be acquired, providing valuable tools and opportunities for the business world of tomorrow.
AUS prides itself on its inclusivity and respecting each student as an individual. Support for students is always available, and the smaller class sizes mean much more opportunity for one-to-one interaction with teachers.
