Why Fashion Design and Management?

Centrally located, with proximity to both France and Italy, Paris and Milan are easily accessible from Switzerland and allows access to the heart of two fashion capitals. Switzerland has also served as an inspiration for many evolutionary artists and entrepreneurs. Among Switzerland’s fashion designers who operate on an international scale is Dorothée Vogel, whose label bears her own name. She previously made the Annex label famous at the Fashion Weeks in New York. Her collections are not tied to any trends or eras, creating a chic and nonchalant impression.

The Fashion Design and Management program combines theory and practice within a creative environment. Students are led on an educational journey that begins with the conceptualization of a product and ends with its development and management. The program encourages drive, passion, and innovation while focusing on the goals needed to succeed in the world of fashion. Business skills are interlinked with inspired ideas through design, sales strategies and hands-on studio-based projects, seminar courses, and liberal arts.

Guidance by experts in the field and continuous immersion in the industry is the basis of this two-year program. It prepares a student for entrepreneurial and managerial positions in the competitive world of creative industries. Marketing, communication, Management of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management, Product Development, Ethical Business and other core courses are part of the studies.

At AUS, top-tier internationally diverse classmates come together, share professional experiences, and form groups of team players where mutual commitment and joint accountability lead to highly effective teams. Beyond the depth and breadth of knowledge gained in the classroom, the life-long connections developed while attending AUS will be of immeasurable value.

To this end, we require and actively support internship placement, on-site company visits, and executive mentoring. With our vast network of contacts at nearby, world-renowned, corporate headquarters, students are sure to find opportunities tailored to meet their specific needs.
